On November 25, 2016 we gathered with our friends to mark our jubilee.
Scientific Entertainment, Ltd was founded by a graduate of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Oleg Povalyaev as an educational supplies company.
From the beginning it was a full cycle business, including own R&D and production. Now we employ 60 engineers, programmers, testers, and marketing specialsts. The company started with individual kits for home experiments of which we made about 400 000 in a course of 20 years. Each of those kits was intended for an individual user.
Then we developed a complete range of labs for high schools and universities. Two years ago we extended this line down to kindergartens with our lab for kids who can't read yet.
UK-Russia Agreement on Science and Technology cooperation extended for another 10 years in August 2016
Hyundai Motor Co. has only two Motor-Studios in the world: in Seul, South Korea and Moscow, Russia. We would like to thank this company and its people for letting us in their Moscow Studio for our event. That was a wonderful opportunity for educational technologies!
Lecture space at the Studio accommodated guests, including one Moscow World OPT School.
Guests spoke about currently changing trends in Russia school education, including more emphasis on physics and technology.
Several speakers mentioned the need to give children ‘touchable’ learning tools alongside with the virtual aids, etc. According to their experience, such an approach charges young learners with more interest and enthusiasm for learning.
This may explain an apparent success of our lab for 5 to 10 yr old children. Our virtual laboratory works from a set of real sensors used to measure temperature of an ice-cream, level of light in the room, magnetic field, heart rate and many other things a curious child can appreciate!

SCIFUN STEVE LAB for CHILDREN
Scifun Steve is a little boy, who is a scientist and an investigator. He ps always on hand to give you a friendly tour of his virtual lab and he helps the teachers. A suit of 8 sensors merege virtual and real environments in one lab space. The Lab includes a rack of 8 modules with additional equipment for experiments.
About 3000 sets of Scifun Steve Lab were sold to Russian kindergartens and elementary schools since 2014. We estimate that about 400000 to 500000 young leaners studied science with its help within the last two years.
What is in Scifun Steve Lab?
Modern educational call for a model in which a child is seen as a ‘playing human’.This asks for adapting traditional learning methods on order to achieve educational goals through playing.
In a nutshell, Scifun Steve Lab serves as a passage from rigid, ‘hard-wired’ pedagogical approach to creative engagement of children in a free format. Children learn about the nature ‘for real’, while making experiments with Steve.
The Lab features eight learning games. Each game supports a set of experiments in its field of study and has a dedicated sensor. Each experiment is shown in its dedicated scene responsive to the indications of the sensor used by the child learner.
Universal sensor for newly developed Home version of the Lab — for sale in Russia in 2017.
ROBOTICS
We make GLOBOROBO line of project-level robots based on Intel Edison processor. ‘Project’ means that each of them can be used in the student projects of varying complexity from an easy one to a very difficult. They can suit a curriculum of both a high school and a graduate student. GLOBOROBO line includes a robot greenhouse, a robot bar, a draftsman, a racing cart with many functions.
Our greenhouse and other robots can be used with Internet of Things prorocol to learn rules and ropes of programing, basics of biology and engineering.
These robots offer tasks of multiple levels of difficulty to the learners.
